    Exchange Fund foreign assets up $81.6b

    The Exchange Fund's foreign assets amounted to $1.479 trillion in May, up $81.6 billion on April, the Monetary Authority says.

     

    The monetary base, comprising Certificates of Indebtedness, Government-issued currency notes and coins in circulation, the aggregate balance of the banking system and Exchange Fund bills and notes issued, amounted to $690.3 billion.

     

    Claims on the private sector amounted to $114.4 billion. Foreign liabilities, representing mainly obligations under repurchase agreements, amounted to $400 million.
