The 2009 Hong Kong Awards for Industries is now open for entries from local manufacturing and services firms. The deadline is July 31.

The awards - championed by the Government - aim to recognise local enterprises' outstanding achievements in moving towards higher technology and higher value-added activities, and commend excellence in their performance.

It has seven categories - consumer product design, machinery & machine tools design, customer service, environmental performance, innovation & creativity, productivity & quality, and technological achievement.

Each category is organised by one leading organiser which will also arrange for a preliminary judging panel for adjudication, before a final judging panel will decide the winners.

One grand award will be awarded in each category. Other deserving entries will be presented with an award or a certificate of merit. The awards presentation ceremony will be held on January 18, 2010, at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.
