Anti-Internet Piracy Campaign

As part of our concerted efforts to combat Internet piracy, the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau (CITB), the Intellectual Property Department (IPD) and the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED), in collaboration with major stakeholder groups and a number of youth organizations, launched the Anti-Internet Piracy Campaign in 2006 to promote the respect for intellectual property rights (IPRs) in the digital environment.

Youth Ambassador Against Internet Piracy Scheme
In a concerted effort to stamp out unauthorized sharing of infringing movie and music files on local websites, C&ED, IPD and the IPR sector jointly rolled out the ˇ°Youth Ambassador Against Internet Piracy Schemeˇ± on 17 July 2006. Over 200,000 youngsters from 11 local youth uniformed groups have been invited to participate. C&ED has set up a purpose-built website for the Youth Ambassadors to report suspected cases and forward the information to the appropriate IPR body for follow-up action. The IPR body will then inform the webmaster of the discussion forum for appropriate action.

Radio Partnership Programme - School Tour
To instill a sense of respect for IPRs among youngsters, IPD has worked with Metro Broadcast to carry out a School Tour from mid-May to mid-July in 2006. Celebrities, artistes and professionals from different creative industries are visiting 21 secondary schools and sharing their views on anti-Internet piracy with students. Interactive activities are also being organized.
