The Guangdong/Hong Kong Expert Group on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights was set up
after the Sixth Plenary of the Guangdong/Hong Kong Cooperation Joint Conference held in August 2003.
The Expert Group aims at enhancing exchanges and cooperation on various aspects of intellectual property,
including promotion and education, training, enforcement and information dissemination.
Members from the Guangdong side include officials from the Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Office,
the Public Security Bureau, the Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Department, the Administration for Industry
and Commerce, the Copyright Bureau, and the Guangdong Customs. The delegation is led by the Director General of
Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Office. Members from the Hong Kong side include officials from the Intellectual
Property Department, Commerce and Economic Development Bureau and the Customs and Excise Department and the delegation is
led by the Director of Intellectual Property.
Since the inception of the Guangdong/Hong Kong Intellectual Property Cooperation, various cooperation items have been
completed successfully or are under sustainable development. The cooperation helps to build up a close partnership
between the intellectual property-related authorities in the two places, and enhances the knowledge of the enterprises,
the public and the intellectual property owners in area of intellectual property in the two places.
The Guangdong/Hong Kong IP Cooperation Corner covers information about the meetings of ˇ°Guangdong/Hong Kong Expert Group
on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rightsˇ± and the cooperation items under the framework of the Expert Group.
The said cooperation items include seminars, talks, forums, and exchange programmes. Users can obtain information about
the protection and management of intellectual property as well as the latest cooperation items of the two places from

in the two places.
