Guangdong/Hong Kong Technology Cooperation
Guangdong - Hong Kong Technology Cooperation Funding Scheme 2008
The Hong Kong and Guangdong governments will jointly provide funding for four applied research and development (R&D) projects under the Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Co-operation Funding Scheme. The amount provided by the Hong Kong side for the projects is about $12.8 million. These projects involve technologies for radio frequency identification (RFID) applications, and energy-saving and environmental technologies. To further enhance cross boundary technology collaboration, a category of co-funded projects was introduced last year under which projects are to be funded jointly by the Hong Kong and Guangdong, or Hong Kong and Shenzhen, authorities. 11 applications seeking joint funding from Guangdong and Hong Kong were received when applications closed on October 15. The results of applications seeking joint funding from Shenzhen and Hong Kong will be announced later. For details, please refer to the press release.

Registration for Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2009 open
The annual Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition (HKSSPC) 2009 is open for registration until 19 January 2009. The competition is jointly organized by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), the Education Bureau (EDB) and the Hong Kong Science Museum (HKSM). Themed "Exploring Our Science, Innovating Your World", HKSSPC 2009 aims to promote youngsters' interest in science and technology. The competition is divided into Junior and Senior Secondary Divisions. For details about the HKSSPC 2009, please continue reading the information sheet here. HKTDC Inno Design Tech Expo
The HKTDC Inno Design Tech Expo, organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will be held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10 to 13 December 2008. The Expo is a showcase of innovative designs and technology solutions for new technologies, designs and ideas to enhance productivity of companies, especially small and medium enterprises. In addition to the exposition, a series of seminars will also address a range of topics on creativity in business. It offers immense opportunities to network with global technology experts and renowned designers and share their success stories. The Digital 21 Strategy is the blueprint for the development of information and communications technology (ICT) in Hong Kong. It is updated regularly to take into account technological advancement and changing needs of the society.
On 21 December 2007, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development announced the fourth edition of the Digital 21 Strategy. The vision of the 2008 Digital 21 Strategy is "Advancing our achievements and seizing new opportunities: building on Hong Kong's position as a world digital city." To lay the foundation for ICT-enabled development in Hong Kong in the next decade, we have identified 5 key action areas for implementation between 2008 and 2010. These key action areas include -
