Girl with encephalitis symptoms passed away

A spokesman for the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health said that the seven-year-old girl who was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital on August 8 with symptoms of encephalitis and reported under the paediatric surveillance programme set up by the CHP with private and public hospitals passed away today (August 22).

The case will be referred to the Coroner's Court to ascertain the cause of death.

CHP's investigation is on-going.
