Recruitment of Members

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for enrolment as members of the Civil Aid Service (CAS).


Major Duties

The Civil Aid Service (CAS) is a government auxiliary emergency service established under the Civil Aid Service Ordinance. The primary duty of the CAS is to provide civil support services during emergencies. Members of the service are trained to perform emergency duties during typhoons, flooding and landslips, search for and rescue people in distress in mountains; help evacuate or rescue victims trapped under collapsed buildings or buried in landslips and combat vegetation fires and oil pollution at sea.

Requirements for Enrolment as Members and Selection Procedures

Applicants should be:

(1)At least 16 years of age, any applicant under 18 years of age should obtain from his/her parent or guardian a written consent;
(2)Permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(3)Able to speak fluent Cantonese and read Chinese; and
(4)Able to pass the Physical Fitness and Functional Test.

Selection Procedure
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a Physical Fitness and Functional Test, a Written Test on Use of Chinese and English, an Interview and a Medical Examination. According to the performance of the candidates in the selection procedures, CAS will select the most suitable candidates for enrolment as members of the CAS. Allowances
Where any member attends training or performs duties, he/she shall be eligible to be paid the allowances in accordance with the Auxiliary Forces Pay & Allowance Ordinance Cap 254.


How to Apply
Completed enrolment forms should reach Record Office, CAS Headquarters, 8 To Wah Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, Hong Kong on or before 28 February 2007. Please specify on the envelope ¡°Application for enrolment as members of the CAS¡±. Enrolment Form, CAS 17 (Rev. 2007), can be obtained through:

(1) the Civil Aid Service's web site <Click here to download>;
(2) Fax at 2576 3021; or
(3) E-mail at: casenq@cas.gov.hk.

(Applicant who had submitted his/her Enrolment Form before 31.1.2008 and was allocated a waiting-list number is not required to submit again.)

Note
All enrolled personnel of CAS shall be abided by the Civil Aid Service Ordinance, Cap158 and Civil Aid Service Regulation, Cap158A. For details, please refer to the ¡°Notes on CAS Ordinance and Regulation¡± attached to the Enrolment Form, CAS 17 (Rev. 2007) or browse the CAS website.

Applicants must be over the age of 16 years. Any applicant under the age of 18 must obtain the written consent to join from his/her parents or guardians.
