*Air Traffic Control and Aeronautical Communications Personnel Recruitment

*ATFSO III Entry Requirement

  • Have Level 3 or above in English Language, together with 4 other subjects at Grade E or above, in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.
  • Have Level 2 or above in Chinese Language in the HKCEE, or equivalent, if Chinese Language is not included in the above four subjects.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. (In Chinese version)
Student Air Traffic Control Officer (SATCO) Entry Requirements
  • Have a pass in 2 subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Grade C/Level 3 or above in three other subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) including English Language and the other two subjects with at least one of them being Mathematics, Geography, Physics or Computer Studies, and Level 2 or above in Chinese Language in the HKCEE, or equivalent
  • Good in spoken and written English
  • Be medically fit to meet requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization standards for Air Traffic Control Officers. The followings are a few examples related to visual requirement-

    Distance visual acuity with or without correction shall be 6/9 or better in each eye separately, and binocular visual acuity shall be 6/6 or better

    No deficiency in visual colour discrimination

    A refractive eye surgery will render a person unfit for physical assessment in the 6-month period following the surgery

Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.

Academically qualified candidates will be invited to go through a progressive selection process comprising a sequence of modules as follows-

  1. aptitude test (1/2 day)

  2. interview (20-30 minutes)

  3. Assessment Centre with individual/group exercise, cognitive tests and personality assessment (1 day)

*Air Traffic Flight Services Officer III (ATFSO III) Entry Requirements

  • Grade C or above in English Language (Syllabus B) and Grade E or above in four subjects including Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.

No written test would be required for applications to Air Traffic Flight Services Officer III.

*Student Aeronautical Communications Officer (SACO) Entry Requirements

  • Grade E or above in 5 subjects, including English language (Syllabus B) and Chinese language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent; and
  • Able to speak clear and fluent English and Chinese

Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.

No written test would be required for applications to Student Aeronautical Communication Officer.
